Learn more about the wonders of the night sky in an evening of stargazing with Bishop Auckland Astronomical Society.

In our Main Hall

  • Meet members of Bishop Auckland Astronomical Society and learn the basics of the science of astronomy
  • Need help setting up your own telescope? Bring it along and the knowledgeable team from Bishop Auckland Astronomical Society will show you how to get started
  • Get creative with a host of space inspired self-led family learning activities

Visitor will of course also have the opportunity to explore our collection of railway vehicles.

Weather permitting:

  • Members of Bishop Auckland Astronomical Society will show you how to use their high-powered telescopes to study the sky above us. If weather conditions permit, participants should be able to see a range of deep sky objects, and BAAS members will be on hand to explain what you can see
