Community opera about the stark choices facing a former railway signalman's family after his death.
Following the death of Harold—a former miner and railway signalman—his wife Lilian, daughter Jacqueline and granddaughter Skylar must face difficlt choices. Should they move away to find jobs and new opportunities, or stay to face an uncertain future?
Forced to remain by Harold’s death and driven by her grandad’s spirit, Skylar fights to save the things which are most important to her; the school choir and the abandoned Moonlight Ballroom Theatre.
This new community opera is performed in an immersive style among our locomotives and exhibits inside the Collection Building.
The Chorus and Orchestra of Opera North join forces with a newly formed Community Chorus, drawn from the local area of south and west County Durham.
Produced by Opera North in partnership with Northern Heartlands.
