On the Right Lines: A New Vision for Locomotion

National Railway Museum Head Curator Andrew McLean discusses the new vehicle layouts coming to Locomotion's New Hall and Main Hall.

Join NRM Head Curator and Assistant Director Andrew McLean to explore Vision 2025 and the construction of Locomotion’s New Hall, which will allow for a comprehensive re-display of the vehicles across the site.

Main Hall will feature a new layout, taking visitors from Shildon’s early days as the nursery of the steam locomotive through the development of new innovations, prototyping, and finally production.

New Hall will explore how the railways emerged from the coal fields of the North East to become a national freight network, meeting the needs of industry across Britain.

Andrew McLean has been the National Railway Museum's Head Curator since 2014. In 2017 he also became the museum's Assistant Director. As you'd expect, Andrew's knowledge of railways past, present and future runs very deep.
