Join us to celebrate the opening of New Hall with music, pop-up science and storytelling.
Can't wait to check out New Hall?
It is rather exciting considering the 47 vehicles under its roof makes our museum the largest undercover collection of historic railway vehicles in Europe. Which one will be your favourite?
But perhaps it's the links to Shildon's history as the world's first railway town that'll capture your interest on your next day out.
To make the days following the opening of New Hall extra special we've lined up a few extras:
- Performances on the New Hall outdoor stage featuring music, science pop-ups and more
- Storytelling around the museum (in New Hall and Main Hall)
- Science-themed make-and-take activities
- Passenger train rides on our historic railway line, hauled by our replica Stephenson's Rocket steam engine
What does it cost?
Museum admission is FREE, giving you access to New Hall, Main Hall and outdoor spaces including the play area—the whole lot.
All activities are free, except for Train Rides (£4pp, under-5s free) and one of the make-and-take activities.
Do I need to book?
Yes. We're expecting a lot of visitors, so it's really important that you book your time slot in advance. Tickets are now available using this link or the 'book now' button in the sidebar.
