This May half term holiday, we’re looking back at railways past and inviting visitors to join in with some themed, free family learning activities.
Activities
24 May – 1 June: Self led drawing challenges
- Be inspired by the Art of Locomotion exhibition, and get creative with drawing challenges around Main Hall.
Tuesday 27 and Thursday 29 May: Trainsville
- Join Cabinet of Curiosity Studio for an exciting hands-on paper crafting workshop. Using specially designed paper model kits, explore the iconic architecture and rich engineering heritage of the Stockton and Darlington Railway.
- 10.30–13.00 and 14.00–16.30, available while stocks last—no need to book.
Wednesday 28 May: Memory of a Journey
- Take part in this mass participation art project across County Durham and Tees Valley for S&DR 200. Decorate a peg doll to represent your favourite train journey and it will be showcased into an exhibition for S&DR 200 in Autumn 2025: Memory of a Journey - Stockton and Darlington Railway
- Drop-in workshops through the day, available while stocks last—no need to book.
