It's a replica of an original 1822 George Stephenson design. Or is it?
Throughout 2019 this locomotive was scrutinised by experts Dr Michael Bailey and Dr Peter Davidson in a bid to establish the true story of its history.
The team is now conducting archive research and writing up its findings.
Meanwhile, the locomotive remains on display in our Collection Building, where you can admire its design among other legendary locos.
