Festival of Steam 2019

This showcase of steam power kicks off our 15th anniversary celebrations.

Immerse your senses in the sights, sounds and smells of steam power as engines from railways and roads unite.

This year we're chuffed to be celebrating 15 years of Locomotion, and what better way to start the party than with a three-day steam spectacular.

Here are the highlights:

Steam rides

Climb on board a carriage hauled by guest locomotive Agecroft. This loco was built in 1948 by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn to shunt wagons at Agecroft Power Station in Manchester.

Road steam traction

Steam power wasn't only found on the railways. Mighty machines including Marshall traction engines, an Armstrong Whitworth steam engine and even a steam roller will be visiting Locomotion—which ones will you see?

Memory Collectors

Join two sisters as they try to bring their memories back to life in this show about the preciousness of memory. They'll take you on an interactive journey to explore the wonder of memory and create new memories today.
