February half term

Come to Locomotion for fun half-term activities with robots and coding as we explore the theme of control.

Things to do this February half term

Coding plays a big part in keeping our railways under control, making them safe and punctual. Join our Explainers and their team of robots for Control It—can you use code to help our robots find cheese, solve a maze and draw pictures?

Control It sessions are available on weekdays. It’s free to join in but places are limited and must be booked on the day of your visit—please ask at the Welcome Desk when you arrive.

What else is on?

You can also try a different type of coding in Screwball Signals—just drop in and see if you can beat the freight train to the station or get the express to London on time.

Head over to our craft area for more family-friendly coding and craft activities—these are free and available every day of the half-term holiday.

Don't forget...

...our lovely lineup of locos, including the mighty Deltic prototype and a 1970s vision of the future—the APT-E tilting train. George and Robert Stephenson’s Locomotion No. 1 is also on display, the first steam locomotive to haul passengers on a public railway.

Our play areas are open for kids to burn off some energy.

Head to the café for hot drinks, snacks and meals, and check out our shop for great gifts, toys and models.
