ExploreStation VR experience

Explore the future of Britain’s railway stations at a new immersive virtual reality experience.

In 2021, Network Rail announced the redesign of small and medium train stations, which could affect over 2,000 locations. This VR experience is part of their national conversations about the proposed design.

What to expect

  • Feel the movement of the train as you arrive into a station.
  • Hear train announcements as you walk through a station with your luggage.
  • See the detail of the new station designs and interchanges with the local community.

And you’ll have fun, seeing and feeling the station design materialise, before you are invited to share your views, which could shape your new community.

ExploreStation is a nationwide initiative commissioned by Network Rail and led by Design Council, in partnership with Digital Urban, The Glass-House Community Led Design and Commonplace. Together, they aim to create better travel experiences and new community hubs, and you can also give your feedback by participating in workshops and commenting online

COVID precautions will be taken, including disinfecting VR headsets and social distancing.
