ACCESS TO THE CAB OF LMS BLACK 5 NO. 5000

OPENING TIMES
Visitors can go into the cab when there are two stewards available.
If two stewards are not available, then visitors can climb the steps and look through the cab window, but are not able to go into the cab.
WHEN THE CAB IS OPEN
This is the waiting area for visitors wanting to go into the cab.
There may be a small queue.
If you need any help while you wait, or if you can’t wait in the queue, please speak to the steward and they will be able to support you.
GOING INTO THE CAB
You will need to climb eight metal steps to go into the cab.
There is a small gap from the top of the steps into the cab (photo) – please take care when stepping across.
IN THE CAB
A steward will be available to tell you about the cab.
For your safety, please don’t touch the cab controls.
There are some photos and diagrams available which show how a locomotive works.
A sensory pack, including ear defenders, is available in the cab–if you need this, please let the steward know.
AT THE END OF YOUR VISIT
Your visit to the cab will last around five minutes. The steward will let you know when it is time to leave.
You will need to step across from the cab onto the steps, and go back down the steps.
