This celebration of steam power was a star-studded conclusion of Steam Season, featuring 70013 Oliver Cromwell.
One of our biggest events of the 2018, the Autumn Steam Gala featured guest steam locomotives for a moving celebration of steam power. 2017's event included Flying Scotsman, and this year we lined up Oliver Cromwell.
Visitors climbed onto a cab of a locomotive in light steam and stepped back in time as they felt the heat, heard the sounds and took in the smells. They enjoyed the sensations of steam power with a steam train ride on the museum’s railway, and hopped onto a miniature railway for a scaled-down experience.
We had a range of displays and information stands by community and heritage railway groups, as well as a hands-on activity providing fun for all the family.
