The Hackworth Brothers

Jane Hackworth Young—great, great granddaughter of Timothy Hackworth—delves into the history of the engineers Timothy and Thomas Hackworth.

Join Jane Hackworth Young as she explores the history of engineers Timothy and Thomas Hackworth. Timothy, Locomotive Superintendent of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, is the better known of the two brothers but both were skilled engineers.

The first locomotive to work in Russia, some of the earliest locomotives exported to Canada, and the invention of the plug wheel were just of some of the historic milestones to emerge from their workshops.
