This special launch event saw GB Railfreight's Class 66 No 66779 on display and featured steam rides behind Locomotion's diesel shunter.

Marking the launch of's Evening Star box set, this event starred the full-size Class 66 as well as its new small-scale replica.

Thanks to GB Railfreight, Class 66 No, 66779 Evening Star was on display on the museum’s outdoor events area. Visitors had the chance to take a closer look at this freight locomotive, with access inside the driver’s cab.

Locomotion’s Class 03 diesel shunter D2090 was also on outdoor display and a modern-image model railway was on show inside the Collection Building, operated by Shildon Model Railway Club.

Access sessions to the Conservation Workshop were available, giving participants the chance to learn more about current and future cosmetic restoration projects.

Passenger rides behind Locomotion’s Class 08 diesel shunter 08911 Matey were also available.

The exclusive Evening Star models box set from features OO-gauge models of Class 66 No. 66779 Evening Star and Class 9F No. 92220 Evening Star, the last steam locomotive to be built by British Railways.
