Leave a legacy that will help continue Shildon’s history of rail innovation.
Locomotion’s mission is to inspire future generations of engineers and innovators by showcasing our world-class collection and celebrating our rich local history. Remembering the museum in your Will ensures that this story continues to be told. Your support allows us to continue sparking curiosity, providing visitors with the opportunity to imagine the next chapter—and the important role they might play in shaping it.
A legacy of any size has a positive impact on how we help our visitors uncover the wonder of the railways in the world’s first railway town.
We understand that the decision to leave a gift in your Will is very personal and that you may choose not to inform us of your intention. However, letting us know that you intend to remember the museum in your Will gives us the opportunity to thank you for your generosity and show you how your gift will make a difference.
If you are interested in leaving an object in your Will to the museum you can find out more information: https://www.railwaymuseum.org.uk/research-and-archive/donate-object.
How you can leave a gift to us in your will
Giving in memory
Donating in memory of a loved one is a wonderful way to celebrate their life and passion. By giving to Locomotion, you can ensure their interests and enthusiasms will continue for future generations to enjoy.
Locomotion is registered on MuchLoved, an online platform which allows you to create a personalised and free online tribute page in memory of a loved one. Through MuchLoved, you can share cherished memories, photos, and videos all in one dedicated space, while raising funds for a charity of their choice.
At Locomotion, all those who have had donations of any size made in their memory are remembered in our Memorial Book and become a lasting part of our museum.
