Advances in engineering continue to revolutionise travel, making the stars humanity’s next destination. Discover the wonders of the sky with the expert guidance of local astronomical societies in a series of viewing sessions held after hours at Locomotion, Shildon.

Join Bishop Auckland Astronomical Society, Durham Astronomical Society and Durham University as they reveal the wonders of the night sky in a guided walk and astronomy talk. You can also explore the Tim Peake’s Spacecraft exhibit during the evening.

Moon Gazing with Bishop Auckland Astronomical Society, followed by an astronomy talk by Dr Richard Massey from Durham University.

4.30–7.30pm

International Space Station with Durham Astronomical Society, followed by an astronomy talk by Paul Clark from Durham University.

4–7pm

Deep Space with Bishop Auckland Astronomical Society, followed by an astronomy talk by Prof Paula Chadwick from Durham University.

5.30–6pm

Deep Space with Durham Astronomical Society, followed by an astronomy talk by Prof Chris Done from Durham University.
